Katie Van Horne, Speech Therapist at The Speech Spot

Katie

A London, Ontario native, Katie had dreams of becoming a Speech Language Pathologist at a young age after a family friend introduced the profession to her.

Katie graduated from University of Western Ontario with an undergraduate degree in Linguistics in 1996.  She received her Master of Arts in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Plattsburgh State University in New York in 2002.

Katie has worked in London since graduating in 2002.  She has experience working with many types of delays and disorders with preschool and school age children through publicly funded programs.

In 2017, she decided to begin in private practice as there was an overwhelming need in London and surrounding area for private speech therapy services.

Katie is a licensed member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is a member of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language and Audiologists (OSLA).

Julia

Julia has lived in London Ontario most of her life. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is fluent in Spanish.

Julia received a Bachelor of Health Sciences at The University of Western Ontario in 2003 and then went on to complete a Masters of Health Sciences in Speech Language Pathology (M.H.Sc) at the University of Toronto in 2005.

Following graduation Julia moved back to London Ontario and started working with the Thames Valley District School Board for a brief contract and then moved on to Thames Valley Children’s Centre. Julia has worked with school age children as part of the School Therapy Services Program and with preschool children as part of the Early Intervention – tyke TALK program. 

Julia has gained a great deal of experience working with children and families as part of a multi-disciplinary team. She has a passion for parent education and empowering parents and caregivers to support their child through play and every day interactions with their children to achieve goals. She has experience in supporting children and their families in the areas of: sound production, expressive language, receptive language, stuttering, augmentative communication, social communication, and feeding and swallowing. Julia is a passionate clinician who loves the field of Speech Language Pathology.

Julia is a licensed member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is a member of the Ontario Speech Language & Audiology Canada (SAC OAC).

Suzanne, Speech Therapist at the Speech Spot, London, Ontario

Suzanne

Suzanne became interested in the field of speech and language from a young age, as she witnessed several family members benefit from those services. She found her passion in being able to help children make significant gains and overcome obstacles.

She started volunteering with a private Speech Language Pathologist while completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Windsor and then subsequently graduating as a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) from Georgian College in 2005.

She worked for a local Speech Language Pathologist privately in 2005-2007 and has been employed by Thames Valley Children’s Centre (TVCC) since 2006. As Suzanne’s experience has grown, she has become even more passionate about this field. She has a strong drive for collaboration with parents and loves making changes in young lives.

Suzanne is a member of OSLA (Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists).
